Kia ora Regenerate NZ whānau,

Drum roll please for the weekly Tree Top Update 🥁

Learnings from our Thursday Think Tank Session 💡

Big shout out to the 12 epic humans who joined us at the Think Tank Zoom session last Thursday.

We learnt a ton and it was really great to hear some fresh perspectives.

Core learnings for us were:

  • Most people share relevant content and conversations with specific groups that they have in their communities. This is often via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger groups e.g. Friends group, Children's parent group or Sports team groups.

  • Video content was commonly mentioned as shareable content alongside informative blogs/articles and podcasts.

  • Regenerate NZ was mentioned as having similarities to when 39,000 Kiwi's pitched in to buy back Awaroa Beach for $2.3m in 2016. A good nod to Kiwi's getting behind things they give a shit about.

  • Clarity of our offering, communication of our vision and team will be pivotal in securing trust from the wider public as we continue to grow our number of signups outside of our closer networks.

Putting pen to paper this week 📝

Jon Sinclair, an Ecologist by training, change leader by day and proud #regeneratenz backer shared his perspective this week on biodiversity loss and environmental legacy.

He exclaims "We are losing touch with nature. Real nature that is, not the beautiful parks and reserves that scatter our country."

A hot off the press Article just for you 🔥

Are we really 100% Pure? This article discusses how NZ stacks up on the OECD numbers. It looks like NZ generates the 3rd highest amount of waste per capita and has the 6th highest emissions per capita in the OECD.

Wondering if there is a vision to get us out of the dumps (literally). If you know of this vision, please do share.

Our current objective ⚡️

Go from 180 signups to 1000 before Xmas.

Hitting 1,000 investors before Christmas would provide us the numbers we need to purchase our first forest by June 2022! 🌳

We have adjusted our messaging 🚀

After plenty of feedback from the Regenerate NZ whanau in the past month we have tightened our messaging to be more laser focused. This is in the attempt to ever improve who we are, what we do, what we stand for and how we are going about doing it.

Our updated problem statement is:

"New Zealand has 400,000 hectares of Small Scale Pine Tree Blocks with no long term regenerative vision.

This is the equivalent land area of 6.5x lake Taupō's or 4x super cities the size of Auckland.

The other 70% of New Zealands Pine Tree Blocks (1.1 Million hectares) are controlled by offshore pension funds and large multinationals from the USA, EU and China."

What we need help with right now 🤔

Thank you again for the epic Think Tank Thursday Session last week. We will be adding these feathers to our caps.

  1. Launching towards our next 1,000. Next week we have earmarked the kick off to push out our updated 100 year vision to a list of over 70x Facebook groups relevant to property, investment and farming. This represents a potential audience of 700,000 Kiwi's to learn from and listen to their feedback just like yours to date.

The ask for this next push will be:

"170+ Kiwi's (and counting) have already backed this vision by singing up for $20.

Our milestone is to have 1,000 kiwis signed up for $20 before this Friday 29th October.

When we hit this we will turn on the weekly contribution functionality as of Monday 1st of November 2021.

With 1,000 contributing Kiwi's at $20 per week we will collectively buy our first forest by April 2022.

We are ready to go live with this, if you are ready to regenerate New Zealand, Sign up here."

If you would like to support this initiative, we will be sending an email update this Sunday to everyone with recommended content and copy that you are freely able to share.

If anyone knows of any relevant groups or chats to post these in then hopefully we can arm you to do so with ease!

2. Guest blogs from our backers and biggest fans is still an ask from us.

We want to hear and share your perspectives of why you think Regenerate NZ is important to your world view. Feel free to check out the template 'how to write LinkedIn content that doesn't suck' and reply to this email or shoot us a message on LinkedIn to let us know if you are interested in contributing to the kōrero.

Starting the week with an inspiring quote from one of you...

"Love your vision and I want to contribute to Regenerating NZ in Native Forests and finding innovative ways to build industries and create jobs at the same time." - Dave

Thanks Dave, by the sounds of that you are one upping our vision with the outcome of building innovative industries and jobs at the same time!

We might have to update that vision doc again...

Have a superb start to your week team,

Jonny & Alex

We have a 100 year vision to Regenerate our Forests, can you help us?
